Launch of SKYDEX IMBD military boat decking at MACC, Norfolk USA

The new SKYDEX IMBD, Impact Mitigating Boat Decking, for military RIBs and High Speed Craft is launched at the US Navy Multi Agency Craft Conference, Little Creek amphibious base.

The new SKYDEX IMBD deck cushioning material is now available to reduce injury for the crews of military, federal and homeland security RHIBs and High Speed Craft.

New builds and retro fit can be undertaken using SKYDEX IMBD in sizes from tiles at 30” x 15” up to full sheets at 60” x 90”.

Future requirements for high speed Navy combatant craft include, ‘the reduction of physical stress, strain, shock and vibration energies imparted to the crew and passenger personnel.’

Naval architects and boat manufacturers are looking for all methods to reduce shock mitigation for personnel at sea including deck cushioning.

A recent Riverine installation focussed on use of SKYDEX IMBD for requirements beyond impact reduction. These included heat and cold thermal protection, deck grip and cargo protection.
