EU Vibration Directive
The EU Vibration Directive (2002/44/EC) was established to protect users of land vehicles plus air and sea craft from the effects of vibration and shock injury.
The Vibration Directive sets out regulations for the control of health and safety risks from the exposure of workers to 'hand arm' & 'whole body' vibration in the workplace.
‘Vibration’ on RIBs and High Speed Craft is usually caused by continuous ‘hammering’ from short steep seas or wind against tide conditions.
‘Shock’ on RIBs and HSC is usually caused by random ‘hits’ from head sea impacts or overtaking following seas.

EU Vibration Directive transitional period to 6th July 2010
Quote from EU Vibration Directive: 'EU Member States shall be entitled to make use of a maximum transitional period of five years from 6 July 2005 to 6 July 2010, where work equipment is used which was given to workers before 6 July 2007 and which does not permit the exposure limit values to be respected, taking into account the latest technical advances and / or the organisational measures taken.'
